| Unlike drums, timpanis have a tightly closed resonating body. Choroi timpanis have as a special feature, a wooden ring on the rim, which yields better resonance and makes it possible to strike the rim. The lyrical sound is less direct than with open drums, but does not have the extremely long reverberation of the double-skinned drums. This timpani stands on a tripod and is fully tuneable. The frame is made of laminated ash wood and covered with European calfskin. |
